Hundred Acre Wood Room

Hundred Acre Wood

Children 2 years to 5 Years

Our 2 to 3 year old children are Krafty Kittens and our 3 to 5 year olds are the Clever Cat's!

Hundred Acre is a big, bright, airy space comprising of 3 rooms with loads of natural light - these areas give us lots of scope to play with all the wonderful toys we love.  We have our own home corner where we can dress up, cook and make believe to our hearts content. There's a quiet corner with lots of big scatter cushions where we can settle down with a book or one of the grown ups can read us a story or we can just chill for a while.
The craft corner means that we can be as creative and as messy as we like! We can draw and paint, build models with the play dough and clay, and we have a sand pit and water tray inside as well as out, to add to the fun!
Our IT areas enable us to learn to navigate round computers and tablets and use them for research and to gather information on things we are learning about and are interested in.
We use British sign language as an alternative way to communicate sometimes, we learn Spanish and we have dance and yoga classes which help us stay healthy both physically and mentally.

Every day, even on rainy days, we go into our lovely big garden where we can run, play in our tunnels, ride our bikes and scooters, play in the summer house, climb in our tree house, cook up creations in the mud kitchen, build and explore in the big sandpit or just relax in the Garden of Tranquillity. In the Spring and Summer we take lots of our indoor toys and resources into the garden which is really fun! We have water play when it's warmer and are always doing fun activities outside. We garden and grow loads of vegetables which we then harvest and eat.

We have lots of healthy, tasty food at nursery including morning rolling snack, lunch and afternoon tea, which we often make our own food for.

We have lots of visitors that come and see us including the fire service, the vet and the police. We go on walks along Coombe Hill Road where we look out for sheep, horses and deer in the nearby fields. We also have weekly visits to Mill View Care Home where we have made some lovely friendships with the residents. They also come and visit us at nursery for afternoon tea sometimes - we make cake for them which they enjoy.

When we turn 3 we become Clever Cats and we have our own special classroom ~ it is called "The Clever Cat Room". In here we have a chance to do more advanced things and we learn about EVERYTHING! From numbers and letters, to reading and writing, to how the world around us works. We are very clever in here and this prepares us for our next big adventure to school.
